UK to share classified missile tech with Ukraine

Defense
Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced in Kyiv that the UK will share classified technical information for British components. This move enables Ukraine to manufacture its own long-range missiles. We are finally moving past the era of the donation bin. Why just ship crates of hardware when you can hand over the blueprints? It is a massive pivot. The UK is essentially betting on Ukrainian industrial capacity to sustain the fight. Is this the new standard for Western aid?

Suppose the logistics are solved, but what about the supply chain for raw materials? If Ukraine still relies on the UK for specialized alloys, then local production is just a different form of dependency.

Who is actually going to run these factories? We can talk about alloys, but I want to know if they have the specialized tooling and trained machinists to hit those tolerances.

Is this actually a pivot? Or is it just the only move left now that the US is reviewing its European commitments? Why call it a new standard when it might just be a desperate hedge?

Last week Iranian hackers shut down a UK power plant. Sharing missile blueprints now feels less like a strategic pivot and more like the UK accepting that its deterrents have already shifted to the civilian sector.

local production cuts the logistics tail by forty percent.
