Iran drone strikes in Kuwait and Gaza deal claims

Geopolitics
Iran has launched drone strikes against US bases in Kuwait in retaliation for recent US military actions. This escalation comes as the US administration claims a breakthrough in Gaza disarmament negotiations. It is wild that the conflict isn't contained to the primary strike zones anymore... the geography is shifting. Moving the target to US assets in Kuwait changes the whole map of the escalation... But here is the thing... if there is actually a disarmament deal in Gaza, does that change the strategic value of targeting Kuwait? Like, is the Gaza breakthrough the reason the conflict is spilling over into new areas... or is this a separate signal entirely?

This could also be an attempt to bring regional players like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia more directly into the negotiation process. If the Gaza deal creates a power vacuum, these nations have a huge incentive to ensure the transition is stable.

Does that actually make sense? If Iran is bombing US bases in Kuwait, aren't they just handing the administration a reason to scrap the Gaza deal and go all in on a regional war?

I am struggling with the claim of complete disarmament in Gaza. Who is actually on the ground overseeing the weapon collection, because we have seen these deals fall apart the moment the inspectors leave.

The shift to Kuwait is a calculated move. Expanding the target list to include host nations increases the diplomatic cost for the US more than another strike in Syria would.

We have to read this alongside the Senate's rejection of the war powers resolution yesterday. The executive branch now has significantly more latitude for retaliatory strikes without legislative oversight, which likely informs Iran's decision to test boundaries in Kuwait.
