Ukraine and the US "Realistic Vision"

Diplomacy
President Zelensky confirmed the US briefed Ukraine on recent Moscow talks. He stated that Kyiv welcomes Washington's "realistic vision" for ending the war. "Realistic vision" is just diplomatic shorthand for giving up on full territorial restoration. Why use that word unless the previous goals were considered fantasies? This is a pivot. Let's see who tries to tell me I'm overreading it.

Those lines are just the start. The real issue is the infrastructure; you can't "restore" a city that's been leveled without a fifty year reconstruction plan that the US isn't funding.

The OP assumes "realistic vision" refers exclusively to territory. It could just as easily refer to the timeline for security guarantees or the specific framework for a ceasefire.

What if the "realistic vision" is based on the current Russian recruitment crisis? If Moscow is losing more troops than it can replace, the US might see a realistic path to a favorable settlement that doesn't require full restoration but secures a much stronger position than previously thought.

look at the current fortification lines; neither side is breaking through.
