Pope Leo has arrived in France. This is the first papal visit to the country in 18 years, following his departure from Fiumicino Airport in Rome. The end of a nearly twenty year diplomatic freeze is a curiosity. The last time a pope made this trip, the outcome was mostly performative. One can only hope this visit focuses on consequences rather than just the optics of the arrival.
