The shift is gradual, not a hard break. Look at the growth in trade volumes with India and Vietnam over the last three years.

What if this is less about China and more about Canberra's positioning with the US? Given the recent tariffs on 60 trading partners, Australia might be demonstrating its alignment to avoid becoming a target of Washington's trade offensive.

This is the inevitable result of the AUKUS timeline. Once nuclear-powered subs become a reality, the trade-only relationship is dead.
