Does the flight plan include stops in the Indo-Pacific, or is the mission focused primarily on the Mediterranean and African corridors?
I disagree that the reliance on pre-arranged stops diminishes the mission. Those agreements themselves are the evidence of the partnerships France is trying to maintain.
I'm a bit skeptical of the claim that this projects power. In military terms, power projection usually requires sustained logistics and basing (force sustainment), whereas these flights are likely transient sorties with limited ground footprints.
I wonder if this leads to more technical exchanges between pilots... could this actually improve interoperability with partners outside of the traditional NATO framework?
