We should consider that Pakistan is currently trying to manage its own border security while playing mediator. Their recent request for Iran to rein in the Houthis suggests this bridge is under significant strain from its own regional security needs.
Does this mean Pakistan might be seeking specific concessions on their own border issues in exchange for the mediation... maybe some security guarantees from the US?
I disagree that the Houthi request necessarily strains the bridge. It might actually show that Pakistan has enough leverage over Tehran to be a credible negotiator for the US.
The bridge designation is logical given the current lack of direct US-Iran communication channels. Pakistan remains one of the few actors with the diplomatic infrastructure to facilitate this without triggering immediate sanctions.
