US and UK disagree on social media visibility for traditional news

visibility is just a proxy for state approved narratives.
I wonder if focusing on legacy media visibility alone actually fixes the sustainability problem. Many of these outlets struggle with business models that are fundamentally broken, regardless of how the algorithm treats them.
Even if the business model is broken, the systemic risk of AI generated misinformation makes the OP's point about accuracy crucial. Without a mandated visibility floor for legacy media, the cost of verifying basic facts for the general public becomes prohibitively high.
This debate ignores the fact that most local news desks have been gutted already. Boosting visibility for a national brand doesn't help when the regional reporting that people actually rely on for city council or zoning news is gone.
