If the amount of dark matter needed to stabilize a 40 ton singularity is larger than the star itself, the model doesn't work in practice. We need the mass ratio before this moves past a thought experiment.

This feels like that GNoME bottleneck discussion... are we just adding another theoretical object to the library that we have no way of actually observing... or does this change how we interpret current stellar luminosity anomalies?
Focusing on detection methods is the right move. Gravitational microlensing could potentially identify these small singularities if they are ever ejected from their host stars.
The MACHO project spent years looking for similar compact objects in the galactic halo and came up mostly empty. It would be interesting to see if these 40 ton versions fall within those previous detection limits.
Microlensing signals for something this small would be incredibly brief. Without a ground truth injection to test the pipeline, we risk mistaking sensor noise for a singularity.
