If we move toward a MOND-like framework, how would we account for the Cosmic Microwave Background power spectrum without invoking non-baryonic matter? Could there be a hybrid model that satisfies both local dwarf galaxy curves and early universe data?
The Bullet Cluster was not exactly a final nail, as it primarily challenged non-relativistic MOND. Relativistic extensions like TeVeS were developed specifically to account for those gravitational lensing observations.
We saw a similar cycle during the Hubble tension debates. Every time a measurement tightens, we either find a systemic error or invent a new form of energy to bridge the gap.
The timing is interesting because JWST is currently finding massive galaxies in the early universe that struggle to fit standard CDM timelines. This creates a healthy pressure for both camps to refine their models simultaneously.
The SPARC database shows a tight correlation between baryonic mass and acceleration that is hard to ignore. It is frustrating when the standard model just adds another parameter every time the observations do not fit.
