The Hubble Tension: New Physics or Systematic Error?

So... we are still staring at this massive gap in the Hubble constant. On one hand, we have the CMB data from Planck giving us one value... then we look at nearby supernovae and get another. Even with JWST stepping in to double check the Cepheids, the tension is still there. It is just... stubbornly there. This basically puts us in a corner. Either our Standard Model of cosmology (Lambda CDM) is missing something huge... like early dark energy or some weird neutrino physics... or we have just been systematically wrong about how we measure distances for decades. But here is the thing I keep thinking about... if it is a systematic error, why does it persist across different independent methods? And if it is new physics, does that mean the constants of nature aren't actually constant over cosmic time? If we have to toss out the Standard Model to fix this, which specific assumption do you think is the weakest link? Or, if you are betting on a systematic error, where exactly is the ghost in the machine hiding?
