So... I've been digging into the models for Stratospheric Aerosol Injection. The physics side is wild... essentially mimicking a volcanic eruption to bounce sunlight back into space. It looks like it could actually lower global temperatures quite quickly. But then there's the termination shock... if we start this and then suddenly stop (political collapse, war, whatever), the warming hits all at once. It's like a spring being compressed for decades and then suddenly released. Some argue that doing nothing is actually riskier than taking the leap into geoengineering. But here's the part that keeps me up... if we shift the temperature but mess up the hydrological cycle... what happens to the monsoons? Could we save the ice caps but accidentally starve millions by shifting rain patterns? Where do we draw the line between a calculated risk and ecological suicide? If the physics work but the ethics are a nightmare... do we still do it?
