We saw a similar claim about plasma dampening during the 2019 updates to the Standard Model extensions. That ended up being a rounding error in the simulation's coupling constant.
This isn't just a tweak to thermal history. If plasma suppressed the heating, the 21cm signals CosmoCube is hunting for might be completely different than we expect. Why are we still clinging to the old thermal curves?
The request for parameters is fair, but the preliminary nature of this is actually encouraging. It suggests we are finally testing the edges of the current models rather than just refining the center.
If the suppression is as effective as suggested, could it be that the dark photons are simply more weakly coupled than previously assumed? This would mean the plasma isn't the primary driver, but rather a secondary effect.
Does the report specify the plasma density thresholds required for this suppression? Without those numbers, the claim is just a conceptual sketch.
