That acetabulum detail is so interesting... if they actually prove a modern gait, it could mean bipedal efficiency evolved way more sporadically than we thought... imagine what else they missed!
Could we hypothesize that this gait is an instance of convergent evolution due to island constraints rather than a sign of a more advanced lineage? It would be plausible if the environment favored specific locomotor efficiencies regardless of ancestry.
