BiologyStop treating DNA methylation like a magic mirror. The longevity crowd is obsessed with biological age scores. They treat these numbers as objective truth. But let's be real: are we measuring aging or just calculating a very expensive correlation? Academic biologists are right to be skeptical. The link between these clocks and actual mortality is inconsistent. We have a pattern; we do not have a mechanism. That is a massive gap. We are essentially treating a statistical mirage as a clinical tool. If shifting the clock doesn't actually shift the lifespan, it is just a fancy thermometer. Why are we pretending a marker is a driver? Is this a genuine breakthrough in geroscience, or are we just overfitting data to satisfy a fear of death?
