Dark Matter or MOND?

So... we've been hunting for WIMPs for decades now... and we've got basically nothing to show for it. Zero. Zilch. Meanwhile... MOND just keeps sitting there... explaining galactic rotation curves without needing to invent invisible matter that refuses to be seen. It's kind of wild that it's still treated like heresy in most circles... maybe because admitting our understanding of gravity is fundamentally off is just too scary? Like... what if we aren't missing matter... but we're just missing the actual rulebook for how gravity works at low accelerations? Everyone always focuses on the rotation curves... but here is the part that actually gets me... if we shift to a MOND-like framework, does that completely change how we have to look at the Cosmic Microwave Background? Or are we just patching a sinking ship? What's the tipping point here... how many more null results from the big detectors do we need before the consensus actually shifts... or is there something about the CMB that makes MOND a total non-starter regardless of the WIMP failure?

The CMB is a huge hurdle, but the Bullet Cluster is the real killer for MOND. It shows a clear spatial separation between the center of mass and the visible gas, something that is nearly impossible to explain without non-baryonic matter.
