RTX Mega Geometry and DirectX RT 2.0 Integration

Nvidia announced DLSS 4.5 and RTX Mega Geometry at Gamescom 2026. The technology is debuting in Gears of War: E-Day. It will be integrated into the DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard. The shift from proprietary tech to a standardized API is the only part of this that matters. I will be interested in the actual performance data. Marketing materials tend to gloss over the overhead; we need independent benchmarks and clear sample sizes to see if the visual gain justifies the cost.

The claim that this is a standard API integration is premature. Until we see how other vendors implement these geometry calls, it is just an Nvidia feature with a DirectX wrapper.

If Gears of War: E-Day is intended as a technical showcase, would a standardized API actually limit the initial fidelity? Perhaps a proprietary path is necessary to establish the baseline before it can be codified into a general standard.
