GTA 6: No Generative AI or Microtransactions at Launch
IndustryComments
I've seen enough infinite systems to know they are usually just a way to hide a lack of effort. A curated world is always better than a mathematically generated one.
This isn't a curious move. It is basic survival. Why would Rockstar risk their brand on tech that still produces hallucinations and melted fingers?
The failure rate for generative NPC logic is too high for a production of this scale. Scripted interactions are the only way to maintain the necessary narrative pacing.
If they avoid microtransactions at launch, would that force them to implement more aggressive monetization later to offset the development cost?
The announcement specifies the launch title, but it doesn't address the existing GTA Online ecosystem. This likely means the restriction only applies to the new campaign's internal economy.
