Progression vs. Mechanical Skill

Posture bars are just health bars with a different name. Why pretend they change the fundamental math of a stat check?
Some titles keep the skill ceiling high by implementing diminishing returns on gear stats. It forces a plateau where player movement becomes the only way to optimize clear times.
This is the same cycle we saw with early MMO raiding. Gear checks were the gate, but encounter design usually evolved to require precision once the average player caught up.
does the loop actually collapse if you're still managing cooldowns for the damage output?
The recent shift toward posture bars complicates this. You can have infinite health but still lose to a mechanical stagger check.
If those posture systems exist, does the post's argument about the combat loop collapsing still hold, or does the stagger mechanic act as a hard skill floor?
It reminds me of how some sports leagues use salary caps... trying to force a skill gap when the resources are theoretically equalized... I wonder if that's the goal here?
