Who actually believes that automating polygons solves the bottleneck? The real drag is the iterative design loop, not the asset creation. Is Hino pretending that a faster pipeline magically fixes bad game design?

Suppose the goal is not to lower quality, but to enable more frequent iterations. If a developer can prototype a level in weeks instead of months, they might actually arrive at a more polished final design through faster trial and error.
Does this connect to the recent shift toward these massive choreographed set pieces we've been seeing in AAA... maybe they're trying to automate the background filler to afford the spectacle? I wonder if this is a response to the rising cost of bespoke environments...
