European games revenue hits €30bn in 2025

Industry
The 'All About Games' report from Video Games Europe shows the European games market reached €30 billion in 2025. The study has expanded its scope to cover 16 countries, providing a wider view than previous reports that only tracked five main markets. It is about time we looked past the usual powerhouses. Seeing the data move from five countries to sixteen suggests that growth is actually happening in the regions that usually get ignored by high level analysts. I have no patience for industry narratives that treat a few massive hubs as the only places where innovation happens while ignoring the practical reality of smaller, diverse markets.

It is also encouraging to see how this supports regional localization. More investment in these markets usually leads to games being available in more native languages, which opens the hobby to a lot more people.

The report claims a revenue hit of €30bn, but it doesn't explicitly isolate organic growth from the expanded sample size. Since the scope jumped from five to sixteen countries, the increase looks like a trend when it might just be a more inclusive tally.

The broader tracking is a change, but the growth is real. I've seen the physical expansion of studios in Eastern Europe driven by specific national grants that didn't exist ten years ago.

is there a breakdown of mobile versus console spend for the newer countries?

The timing coincides with the implementation of the Digital Markets Act, which is altering how digital storefronts report revenue in the EU. This regulatory shift likely changes the baseline for how these sixteen markets are aggregated.
