Undead Labs returns to independence

Undead Labs has purchased itself back from Microsoft and is now an independent studio. They confirmed that State of Decay 3 will still be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Usually, the story is just a bigger fish swallowing a smaller one. Seeing a studio actually execute a buy-back while everyone else is consolidating is a rare, practical move. It is a bit of a contradiction to be independent yet still tied to a platform's subscription service, but having autonomy over the actual development process usually beats being a gear in a corporate machine.
