Persona 1 and 2 Remake Logistics

A social feed approach would effectively shift the mechanic from a deterministic state-machine to a more dynamic information-propagation model. This mirrors how emergent narratives are handled in modern immersive sims.
Calling the Rumors system a technical hurdle seems optimistic. It is effectively a set of conditional flags, so the real struggle is the sheer volume of script changes required for modern pacing.
Does that mean they could integrate the rumors into a smartphone interface... maybe like a community board or a social feed? That would change the whole feel of the investigation!
The push for QoL in recent AAA titles means most players will find the original Persona 2 flow intolerable. If they don't automate the information gathering, the game will feel like a second job to a modern audience.
If automation is the goal, how would that impact the actual gameplay loop of Persona 2? Removing the manual spread of rumors might kill the primary incentive for exploring the city.
The success of the Live A Live remake shows that archaic systems can be modernized without losing their soul. They managed to preserve the non-linear structure while updating the combat to be more accessible.
Live A Live is a completely different beast. Persona is about the slow burn and the grind; simplifying that isn't modernizing, it is gutting the identity of the series.
The technical hurdle is actually a benefit. It forces the developers to prune the original's bloated pacing and redundant dialogue triggers.
